Above all I want to thank God for blessing me to be a poet. The beauty of a gift is that it emerges from within you. As a child my mother and I were beaten by my stepfather in Chicago, Illinois. The abuse continued until I was old enough to stand up to him. I've been writing poetry since I was a child. During my teenage years I began sharing my poetry with my friends.
