Meleena Erikson is a fiction writer who dabbles in poetry and non-fiction. She writes on matchbooks and labels as frequently as on paper. Meleena grew up on the coast of Maine in a small town she couldn't wait to leave. In her college admissions essay, she said that someday she wanted to write books, marry for love, and live in a big house near the water. She wrote The Day the Rain Came during her 15th and 16th summers. Meleena currently lives with her family in Maine, where she writes, stacks wood, and teaches college. She no longer paints her nails black but wishes she did.
