Elston, Gene

Gene Elston began Baseball play-by-play began in 1946 with Waterloo in the Class-B Three-I League. In 1950 Gene began a four-season stint in the Class-A Western League with Des Moines.

Gene Elston's Major league career began in 1954 with the Chicago Cubs. In 1958 he joined the Mutual Broadcasting Company's Game of the Day for three years. A 25-year stay with the Houston Colt 45s/ Astros began in 1962.
