Nandana Dutta was born in Shillong (erstwhile capital of Assam) and educated at Shillong and Guwahati. She received M.A., M.Phil., and Ph.D. degrees from Gauhati University, Assam (India). She is currently teaching at the Department of English, Gauhati University. She has earlier taught at Dibrugarh University (1990 91) and at Handique Girls College, Guwahati (1987 90).
