Ella Durham was born in Sunderland. After a lengthy career in the UK's Department of Work and Pensions, she moved to Spain in 2003 to work in a refuge for abandoned animals on the Costa Del Sol. Ella retired in 2006 to concentrate on her writing. In 2009, she won the Fiction Writing Competition for Olive Country Life Magazine and subsequently became the resident short story writer for two magazines: The Andalucian and, later, Inland Solutions.
