Author Joseph Duncan was born and raised in Southern Illinois. He spent his idyllic childhood running wild through the wooded highlands of the beautiful Illinois Ozarks, a veritable "lost boy.".. a hillbilly heathen, if you will. Despite his rural upbringing, Joe's home environment was very creative and liberal. His mother was an avid reader and his father was a talented amateur artist.
