William E. Houston (ret. Colonel U.S. Army) received his doctorate in molecular microbiology from Vanderbilt University in 1971. Colonel Houston served as the Director, U.S. Army Medical Chemical Defense Research Program, Office of the Surgeon General, Washington D.C. from 1982-1985.
