I was part of the media team for the 2008 Centennial running of the All Alaska Sweepstakes, and my goal with this book has been to capture the excitement and the history of that race and the eleven runnings of the Sweepstakes which preceeded it. Alaska is my home, and the focus of my work, but I had the good fortune to be raised by parents who loved adventure, and they spent a lifetime traveling and exploring from California to Europe, from Arizona to Alaska.
