Born in 1881, Frank Parker Day was an accomplished Canadian athlete and writer. After attending Oxford University on a Rhodes Scholarship, Day returned to Canada to teach English at the University of New Brunswick. During the First World War, Day served as a recruiter for the Canadian Expeditionary Force and, by the end of the war, was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. After Armistice, he returned to academic life, and became the Dean of Freshmen at the Carnegie Institute of Technology until 1926.
