Spirit Davis spent his school years in San Francisco. After high school (Lincoln - class of spring "54") he enlisted in the in the U.S. Air Force where he served as a radio operator, journalist, photographer, and broadcaster. He retired after 22 years and returned home to San Francisco in 1976. He spent the next six years working as a purchasing agent in private industry, but missed the camaraderie of the military world. He applied for a job with the Headquarters 6th Army at the Presidio of San Francisco, and was accepted. When the Presidio was closed he then moved on to the General Services
