The authors of this novel-in-stories are middle school writers served by Beacon House, a community-based organization in Washington, DC. They worked in collaboration with Shout Mouse Press and the ShootBack Project to tell their stories through their own words and photographs. Shout Mouse Press (www.ShoutMousePress.org) is a nonprofit publishing house for unheard voices. We promote diversity in literature by empowering under-represented communities worldwide to develop and write their stories, and then we professionally publish and promote them.
