Gene Cryer spent thirty-eight years as a journalist, and many of his experiences in journalism have provided the threads from which Follow the Dollar and other mysteries to follow can be woven. Since retiring as a journalist, Cryer has taught at Florida Atlantic University and done workshops for the Florida Center for the Book and the National Writers Workshop. He also served as president of the Writers' Network of South Florida for eight years.
