Before grade school, young Tom wanted to be an Engineer like his Father. His Dad was a Civil Engineer, who designed and built dams and power plants. The very young Tom wanted to be a Locomotive Engineer. When in grade school, he made and flew small, rubber band powered, balsa stick and tissue paper airplanes. From then on, he wanted to fly.
