Edee Courtney was born at the height of the Baby Boom, 1950, in Raleigh, North Carolina. She ended up a little fair haired Cracker girl in the predominantly Latino neighborhood of West Tampa, Florida in the early 60's, when her mother married her marvelous step-father. She attributes her love of writing to three people, her Junior High School English teacher Mr. Lindsay. Her High School English teacher, Mrs. Gail Gallagher, who encouraged her to keep a journal, and Mr. Buddy Tappe her High School, History teacher, who instilled in her a great love for Rod McKuen and modern poetry.
