Growing up on a farm in Kentucky, the author has studied agriculture around the world. From the Sahel in Africa, through the deserts of Central Asia, to the jungles of Southeast Asia, he has gained the experience to understand the realities of feeding a hungry world. Along the way he has worked in wildlife biology, agricultural development, worked as an author and an educator, managed a commercial nursery, and ran a C.S.A.
