Robert Conard was born in Columbus, Ohio in November, 1939. He is a Navy veteran who served on a destroyer as a gunner's mate during the Cuban Missile Crisis. At the age of ten, his grandfather read The Iliad to him by lantern light in a small town in southern Ohio that had yet to receive electricity. He has been hooked on the classics ever since. Bob is an avid fisherman, and has written several periodicals for the New England Fisherman. He has also written several short stories-Sharks' Soup being the most famous.
