Collins, Clare

Clare collins was born in Australia in 1951 to british parents. The family returned to England in 1957. They lived in Essex where Clare received her education. She started to write poetry at the age of fifteen. In 1968 a long poem written by Clare reached the final of the Children's Literary Competition and was Highly commended. On leaving school Clare attended a one-year course in Speech and Drama gaining a College Certificate. She went to Teacher Training College between 1973-1975 gaining a Cert Ed.
