Tris Cole lives in Portland, Maine, with his beautiful consort, the mistress Jennie. She manages the estate and works at a local bank - to keep up appearances - while he toils at the magnum opus in a garret, whence, at odd times, he'll steal away for a few hours to indulge his true passion: credit analysis. They have a cat named Reed.
