Algerian novelist and poet Ahlam Mosteghanemi is the best-selling female author in the Arab world. Her first novel, "Memory in the Flesh "(Zakirat al Jassad) (1993) was translated into English in 2000 after winning the 1998 Naguib Mahfouz Prize. In 2006, Forbes magazine identified her as the most successful Arabic writer of her time. She lives in Beirut.
