Shinobu Kitayama, PhD, is Professor of Psychology and Director of the Culture and Cognition Program at the University of Michigan. He received his doctorate from the University of Michigan, where he has been teaching since 2003. Prior to joining the faculty there, Dr. Kitayama taught at the Universities of Oregon and Chicago and at Kyoto University.
