Dave Cherry was born in Barnsley and is proud of his roots. A former miner and electrician, he's developed into a true Renaissance man of Barnsley culture. He became a household name in Barnsley with his comedy song 'The Stairfoot Rarndabart', which pokes fun at the local bottleneck. This song alone made 20,000 for the Barnsley Hospice.
