Beginning in 1954, he taught in the Norton Schools, where he became principal in 1956; functioned as a supervisor in Summit County Schools in 1966; and joined the University of Akron in 1967. In 1970, he became assistant to the dean of the College of Education and assistant dean in 1972. He was promoted to dean of the Evening College and Summer Sessions in 1974. He retired in
