Alvaro Cardona-Hine, Costa Rican by birth, came to the U.S. when he was thirteen. By the time he was eighteen and had become fluent in English, he began to write--mainly poetry--and went on in both his native Spanish and in English to write fiction, non-fiction, and memoir. He also translated several Spanish poets and continued to write poetry in Spanish as well. He has had twenty-seven titles published. His talent extends as well to painting which he took up in his early forties and continues, as he does with writing, to pursue to this day. His paintings are in collections on five continents....
