Bryce Cameron was born in Rangoon, Burma on November 5, 1911. He attended Dollar Academy, Scotland, Auckland Grammar School, New Zealand and Birmingham University, England, graduating with First Class Honours BSc in Petroleum Engineering and Refining. He spent nearly twenty years working for Anglo Persian Oil Company- the forerunner of British Petroleum- exploring the oilfields of Iran, bringing Kuwait's production on-stream, and in the offshore fields of Trinidad.
