David Alan Grier is a long-term writer for the IEEE Computer Society and has served as Vice President of Publications for the Society. He is the author of books such as When Computers Were Human (Princeton 2005) and Too Soon to Tell (Wiley-IEEE Computer Society 2009). He writes the column and blog "The Known World" for Computer and, among other courses, has taught composition at the George Washington University.
