Vicki Young was born in Detroit, Michigan and grew up there. From an early age, writing was always her passion, and she penned several short stories and poems. At the age of fifty, she decided to go back to school and graduated with a two-year certificate in Accounting and Finance. During a dark period in her life, she began to write stories about her best friend, her dog Brandy, and, changing his name slightly, created Brando's Heavenly Adventures.
