Nick had a privileged childhood and Jesuit education. Son of an Auto-engineer of two giant German auto companies, Nick's earliest interests include adventure sports, astronomy, and science fiction. As a teenager, Nick became interested in the origin of the universe and evolution of species. He understood that religious beliefs about creation were incompatible with scientific knowledge.
