Brown, Mrs Savvy

Savvy Brown was born Shona Snowden to working class parents on the south side of Chicago in 1975. She attended parochial school from first through ninth grade; then transferred to the Chicago Public School system. In her youth she witnessed domestic violence and drug use in the home. She was the subject of very harsh criticism from her mother who had good intentions but was misguided. Savvy struggled to hide her pain and maintain an appearance of normalcy.
