LLOYD L. BROWN was born in St. Paul, Minnesota. He became a labor organizer in the early 1930s, participating in the organization of the Congress of Industrial Organizations (CIO). He was Managing Editor of the Weekly New Masses and an associate editor of the cultural monthly Masses and Mainstream. He died in 2003.
