The literary establishment lost one of its finest members in 2004 when at the age of 53, Brown died unexpectedly. However, the "Rough South" author left behind a gift to readers...a final, almost complete manuscript, A Miracle of Catfish. In addition to writing, Brown was known as the "patron saint and friend to alt-country, anthem-folk, hillbilly, banjo-picking, Southern soliloquizing, bourbon-poisoned, frat-boy-followed and/or cop-chased musicians". Several music artists have honored the writer with a CD entitled Just One More.
