The Author was born March 17, 1941, and graduated at the top of his class in 1960 during the Civil Rights Movement. He attended Savannah State University in Savannah, Georgia during the time that the sit-in demonstrations were taking place at lunch counters in the Southern States. Unable to secure financing for his second year, he moved to New York after his acceptance at Brooklyn College.
