Amy Coulbourn Ammerman Brennan was born in Crisfield, Maryland in 1960 and was educated in the public schools there. In 1994 she left her beloved hometown along with her son to follow her then husband throughout his career in the U.S. Coast Guard. During the ensuing 18 years, besides raising her son, Amy volunteered for 12 years with the Coast Guard as a Command Family Liason, did freelance work in floral design, confectionery art and catering and was the quintessential wedding and funeral singer.
