Heather Rice is a former teacher and the parent of two special needs children. She began writing "Max and Pat" stories for her youngest daughter because the "beginning reader" books she found were too hard and not really written for beginner readers. Her daughter Sarah is now Max's biggest fan, and she regularly asks her mom to write new adventures. Heather has a line of Sight Word CD's available on Amazon. (Sing With Me Sight Words). She also volunteers as an advocate for special needs children.
