Bishop Roger Blanchard was born Sept. 11, 1909, in Brockton, Mass He graduated from Boston University and the Episcopal Theological Seminary and was ordained to the priesthood in 1936. He served as curate of St. Stephens Church in Lynn, Mass., from 1936 to 1938, and as rector of St. Peters Church in Beverly, Mass., from 1938 to 1943. From 1950 to 1956, Bishop Blanchard was the executive director of College Work for the Episcopal Church. Between 1956 and 1958, he was dean of St. Johns Cathedral in Jacksonville, Fla.
