Pastor Black was born a middle child on August 29, 1960 to Robert and Elder Catherine Jackson in Brooklyn, New York. She was saved and baptized at the age of nine. As a teenager she began to search the scriptures for herself with Sunday School not being enough. She mothered seven children mostly as a single parent by the age of 35. She is now married to Essence Black and has been pastor of The Way Church of Christ in Brownsville, Brooklyn, New York since February 2004.
