Returning back home to the U.S., Bennett would use the GI Bill to graduate from the Kansas State University engineering college and build a career around agricultural development and conservation as part of Cold War, serving through the U.S.A.I.D branch of the U.S. State Department in both north and south India, in the Sudan, in two locations in Sri Lanka, in northern Uganda, and in Kenya.
