ANDREW BENNETT was awarded a Ph.D. in applied mathematics from Harvard University in 1971. He subsequently continued his research as a National Research Council Fellow at the University of Toronto, and as a Queen's Fellow in Marine Science at Monash University (Melbourne, Australia).
