Born in 1960's Los Angeles, Cheri' Ben-Iesau joined the Coast Guard in 1986 to get the G.I. Bill and go back home to college. After duty stations in San Diego, Louisville, Baton Rouge, Houston, and New Orleans she retired, nearly 25 eventful years later. Cheri' Ben-Iesau is a successful artist. Her artwork has been in the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, numerous gallery exhibits, and includes several murals, including the U.S. Coast Guard's Hurricane Katrina Memorial, dedicated in a ceremony by DHS Secretary Chertoff on the 1st anniversary of the storm.
