Bates, Alan L.

Captain Alan L. Bates (1923-2012) has been a naval architect, River Hall of Fame recipient, columnist for the The Waterways Journal, historian and author of books on riverboat lore and steamboat technology, founding member of the Howard Steamboat Museum, renowned expert on steamboats throughout the world and a true mentor to many river historians, river men and women.
