Chris Barry is a lifetime resident of South Dennis, New Jersey, a small, rural town near the Delaware Bay shore that has a rich history as a nineteenth century shipbuilding and commercial hub. He was inspired as a child by the stories told to him by the area's elderly natives. It is not only the history, but the culture of self-reliant craftsmen and entrepreneurs upon which the 'Joe Bass' novels are based. Chris Barry's use of locale and local lore is masterful. Chris is both author and illustrator. The fifth volume is in preparation.
