Born in London in 1927, she went to Geneva in 1948 to work for the United Nations and married a Frenchman in 1951. In 1977 she divorced him, married an Australian and came to live in Australia in 1981. When she is not travelling or interpreting, she lives with her second husband on the windswept south coast of New South Wales, Australia, where she writes and teaches French, Spanish, Russian and Philosophy.
