Laura's knitting design and love of teaching have been influenced at every stage of her life. She grew up sewing and knitting a bit with a mother who insisted on meticulous finishes. In college, she majored in engineering, and learned to knit sweaters. After working as a Project Manager in engineering design, she returned to the classroom, teaching high school math and writing and teaching "Introduction to Engineering" for a magnet program. Her knitting, sewing and teaching continued as she married, had children, and moved many times, including to Australia and Brazil. When her family finally
