Born in Detmold, Germany in 1961, Golisch completed her studies in German in Hannover with a Ph.D., writing linguistic and literary book chapters and essays, as well as monographs on Uwe Johnson and Ingeborg Bachmann. She's also written stories, essays, and translations for anthologies and literature magazines, winning the prestigious Wurth Literary Prize in 2002. She lives, reads, and writes in Monza, Italy since 1987.
