Andrew K. Balkansky is Professor of Anthropology at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. He is the author of "The Sola Valley and the Monte Alban State: A Study of Zapotec Imperial Expansion" and coauthor of "Origins of the Nuu: Archaeology in the Mixteca Alta, Mexico".
