Ayyadurai, V. A. Shiva

V. A. Shiva Ayyadurai, PhD (MIT), the inventor of EMAIL, was born in India butgrew up in the United States. A systems scientist and inventor, he holds fourdegrees from MIT, is a Fulbright scholar, Lemelson MIT Awards Finalist, andWestinghouse Science Honors Award recipient. He received the first US copyrightfor EMAIL on August 30, 1982, and created EchoMail in 1993, and CytoSolve in2003. He is the founder and director of the MIT EMAIL Laboratory, and holdsteaching positions in both MIT s Biological Engineering and Comparative MediaStudies departments.
