Tonja Ayers owned and operated a women's store in Detroit, Michigan for 15 years before deciding to write her first book, "A Ho Needs 2 Stay in a Ho's Place" which was based upon the many stories of infidelity her customers would tell her about. Ayers decided to write books regarding the most popular discussions held between her and her customer base which led to her second book "How to Start Your Own Business," "Is Your Man Gay?" "Cheaters: The Who, What, When, Where and Why of Cheating" and her first novel; "The Apple Don't Fall Far From the Tree" with Tracee Boyd.
