For her first book of poems, "Visits from the Seventh" (Knopf, 2002), Sarah Arvio won the Rome Prize of the American Academy of Arts and Letters and a Guggenheim Fellowship. Her second book, "Sono: cantos" (Knopf, 2006), was written during her stay at the American Academy in Rome. For many years a translator at the United Nations in New York and Switzerland, she is now teaching poetry at Princeton.
