Rochelle O'Neal Thorpe first began studying Mandarin Chinese at the University of Massachusetts in 1980 - as an exchange student she provide English instructions in Taipei to children ages 12 to 16 and also to Professors at the Taichung Industrial Park in 1981. It wasn't until 2002 that she traveled to Hei Long Jian, Chin's most northern province to provide conversational instructions with her late husband Richard F.
