Born and raised in Lincoln Park, Melanie Ann Apel believes there is probably no better place to live in Chicago than this busy, something-on-every-street-corner neighborhood. A freelance writer of more than 30 non-fiction titles for children and young adults, Melanie brings a perspective and energy to this book that could only come from a Lincoln Park native. With images from DePaul University Library's Department of Special Collections, the Chicago Historical Society, and many other neighbors and neighborhood groups, Melanie hopes to help preserve the history of the Lincoln Park neighborhood
