Angelo, Lois

Charlotte Albina "Lottie" Aikens (1868-1949) born in Canada and a graduate of Ontario's Stratford Hospital, was a widely known nursing authority. An Army nurse in the Spanish-American War, Miss Aikens was an educator, supervisor of nurses, and director of Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC. She wrote several textbooks on nursing, nursing education and hospital administration and helped set up Detroit's home nursing program.
